Venturing into Coatlicue's Shadow Realm (Sketch)
This actually describes a story, the girl I drew is suppose to be Scathach. Have you ever read Michael Scott's novel "The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel"? It's an extraordinary novel ._.b the story line is really intriguing, I highly recommend it.
Well, I achieved the idea of this drawing from a story line in the novel, which was the part where Aoife (Pronounced "e-fa"), Sathach's twin sister, sacrificed herself in order to re-imprison Coatlicue in her distant, desolate, and dark shadow realm by sustaining her in her arms and dragged Coatlicue into the shadow realm along with her. The incident caused Scathach to swear she'll rescue her twin from Coatlicue's shadow realm.
Scathach is a deity in the Ulster Cycle of Irish Mythology. She is a legendary Scottish warrior woman and martial arts teacher who trains the legendary Ulster hero Cu Chulainn in the arts of combat. She is also known as "The Shadow", "The Daemon Slayer", and "The King Maker".
Coatlicue was a beautiful Archon scientist that conducted experiments on herself which turned her into an insatiable, blood drinking, insane monster. Coatlicue hated the Elders and went on a destructive and murderous rampage, killing many and devastating everything in her path. Since they couldn't kill her, she was banished to a distant, desolate, dark, flat rock shadow realm, where she has slept for tens of millennia.
Okay, moving on to the story....
Scathach finally went on her task in attempt to rescue Aoife from Coatlicue's shadow realm. She entered the shadow realm and came across a surge of verdant strings of light swarming with archaic Egyptian symbols embedded within the surge, where each represents a definition and has affects on the holder (okay, so I know that earlier I said the shadow realm is desolate and dark, but I've made some modifications of my own to make it more interesting), she could touch and grip only one symbol, because just the slightest touch causes imbalance to the surge which causes it to dissipate.
The scattered symbols vary. There is "Ankh" that represents eternal life, which Scathach has not need of. There is "Amenta" that represents the underworld, "Shen" which represents eternity, and "Heb" which is utterly useless for it represents an alabaster bowl. She eventually reached for the symbol "Sa" which represents protection and is indeed useful. She will need plenty of protection when she finally encounters Coatlicue.
I'm planning on bringing colour to this sketch....
I really hope It'll look better in colour-_- Wish me luck
